The Google Dance And What It Means For You

Panda, Panda, will you do a dance for me

THE GOOGLE DANCE –  WHAT WE KNOW

A lot has been written about the latest Google Panda Algorithm Changes and to say that there is confusion as to the extent of the search engine giant intensions is an understatement.

If you are an Internet Marketer, then chances are that some of your sites have been hit by the changes in the latest Google Algorithm.  Indeed, not only have so called “black hat search engine marketers” been hit by the latest dance, but so have “white hat seo professionals”, those (still in the majority) who have never used an “unethical technique” in order to make their sites rank better.

For many of us, the latest changes are a vindication of sort, that the use of black hat methods will eventually be found out by Google, but such is the scope of earning potential, that many of these folks were earning tens of thousands of dollars every month did not mind pushing the SEO envelope too far.  Problem is that some of them pushed it way too far, and Google got fed up with it.

As the dust slowly settles, and the latest changes finally settle throughout the various data banks, what conclusions can any one involved in maintaining and promoting a website draw?

WHAT’S CHANGED?

  • Google will penalize over optimized websites
  • Google has de-indexed entire blog networks
  • Google is going after “un-natural” back links
  • Google likes authority sites

How to survive in this new environment?

  • Algorithm changes are not new
  • They are here to stay
  • Every cycle sees changes that affect some website owners more than others
  • For some, the latest change has been one too many
  • For others, it is an opportunity to learn, modify, adapt

What will you do?

  • Will you join the statistics of those who call it a day?
  • Are you in it to survive?
  • Learn?
  • Make money?
  • Thrive?

Is SEO really DEAD?

This is an ancient question.  Some say it is, whilst others don’t agree.  This debate will continue to rage and in the meantime some will continue to make money by using SEO methods that work whilst others will continue to argue.

What worked in the past?

  • Add quality content to a site
  • Increase the exposure of your site by building quality back links to your site… naturally
  • Use Social Media
  • Do all of the above regularly

What works today?

  • Add quality content to a site
  • Increase the exposure of your site by building quality back links to your site… naturally
  • Use Social Media
  • Do all of the above regularly

Wait!  Didn’t I just say?

  • Google will penalize over optimization
  • Google has de-indexed blog networks
  • Google is going after “un-natural” back links

Yes, but methods to drive traffic to your site have not changed!

THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT:

Google is getting better at discovering and de-indexing websites that push the … SEO envelope too far. However In spite of the recent algorithm changes, Google still needs your help:

  • To find what your site is all about
  • To determine the theme of your site
  • To establish a list of keywords that are relevant to your site
  • To make a determination as to whether your site adds value to its customer basis.

Google is in this business to make money

  1. Steve,

This subject is hot off the press to say. Yes, this is a topic that we in my group have been seeing allot of non-improvement on. People are optimizing to much it makes the sites look terrible. I do not like the loading time and then a pile of junk all over the place. It looks as if the Webmaster has lost their minds. They have on side full of how to manuals for sale and the other on items from affiliates.

Now a days you would be blessed just to find a sales free site that offers nothing but quality post. Usable tested information that empowers and support people globally.

I have found a few sites that match a pure reading and visual pleasure. You get quality information from people who are great coaches, visionaries, mentors and leaders in our global industry. They never have not one item for sale on their whole site. They give free support and that alone is priceless.

I have learn that if you complete your due diligence the results will be well worth all the time searching for the right fit, per say. So, keep hoping that people will come back to normal and use their sites to gain respect and share their passions to empower others. I love reading an article that moves me on all levels. That is what is being forgotten.

Steve, great topic and you got me started. Just take a look at different pure sites, as I call them. Your personal and business growth will thank you for years. Nothing more refreshing than gaining insight from a powerful read and know how to apply all that knowledge. There is not better feeling.

Steve, your one of our greatest visionaries in our global industry. I need to start making my visits more known with quality comments on some of your topics. When I feel some kind of spark from one’s articles it just gets my hands moving with words being manifest to support the topic at hand. I thank you for that and will be returning for more.

  2. Hi Stevie, so nothing has really changed except that google is discovering the higher quality sites more easily. I know a lot of “higher quality” sites have been “down positioned” also, but they’ll get up there again. We are all learning, it’s just that Google studies data a lot harder than most of us:-)

Thanks for a very informative post Stevie. Regards from Julieanne

  3. Hi Stevie,
Very informative article! Looks like we just continue on doing what we have been doing. I can truthfully say I have not tried to outwit Google in the seo area. That’s a dance I haven’t learned the steps to. :)
It seems things are often changing, so lets continue to blog on and add value and hope for the best.
This is a switch from your other Relationship blog. Both are very nice.
    Have a great day,
    Lynn

    • The aim is to avoid triggering Google spam alarms which are becoming increasingly sophisticated. We have been doing seo and internet marketing since 1997. We currently work on over 200 customers’ sites which is keeping our hands full. The relationship site was a pet project of mine. It’s gotten to a point now where it generates enough profit to be able to continue to maintain without putting too much work into it.

  4. Hi Stevie. Thanks for clearing it all up. I guess it means that if you were doing the right things before, you can keep doing them. I’ve been learning about SEO and linking from another person, and you guys seem in complete agreement on the new Google algorithm. I appreciate your sharing this information.

    All the best,
    Leslie Denning

  5. Great information you have in there Stevie! Google has everything we want worldwide and also do something to block spammers out there. Let’s just be careful and do our business in a good way! :)
